Lynn Public Schools Downtown Campus
A five story former bank headquarters at 195 Market Street, converted into a downtown school campus in two phases.
MCC was involved throughout the conversion of 195 Market Street, the former Eastern Bank operations headquarters, into the Lynn Public Schools Downtown Campus, home to Frederick Douglass Collegiate Academy and the Harold Durgin Success Academy. We delivered both phases for the City of Lynn and SOCOTEC, more than 90,000 square feet in all, and turned the school over in August 2026. Phase 1 opened to students in the fall of 2025, with a ribbon cutting at 195 Market Street on October 1.
Phase 2 converted the second and fourth floors of the five story, Type IIA building, close to 30,000 square feet a floor, from office to educational use: 20 classrooms, three science rooms with a fume hood and emergency eyewash and showers, art, music and life skills rooms, a workout room, locker rooms with showers, and nurse and administrative offices. We built it from February to August 2026 with students and staff on the Phase 1 floors, every exit kept open and the existing fire alarm fully operational the whole time.
- Office to school change of occupancy in a five story, Type IIA building
- Phase 2: 20 classrooms, an IT classroom and three science rooms
